The 16th edition of The Solheim Cup promises to be the biggest golf event of the year with the best golfers from Europe and USA going head-to-head in the most exciting, competitive format in golf.
From September 9th – 15th Gleneagles will be at the centre of the golfing universe and watched by millions around the world as the biennial contest re-visits the ‘Home of Golf’ for the first time since 2000.
WHAT IS THE SOLHEIM CUP?
In 2019 The Solheim Cup will return to where it all began, Scotland, The Home of Golf. The PGA Centenary Course, host of the 2014 Ryder Cup will once again see Europe vs USA battle it out in one of the highlights of the golfing calendar.
The Solheim Cup is a biennial tournament contested by teams of 12 players representing Europe and the United States. The inaugural Solheim Cup was staged in 1990 and the golf club manufacturer Karsten Solheim was instrumental in its introduction and why it is called The Solheim Cup.
The Solheim Cup Event Day Format:
DAY ONE – four foursomes matches & four four-ball matches
DAY TWO – four foursomes matches & four four-ball matches
DAY THREE – 12 singles matches
